Cortex Ensemble & Loverman – Opening Concert of Listen Festival 2025
On November 4th 2025, Cortex Ensemble opened the ninth edition of Listen Festival with a special performance inside the vast and resonant National Basilica of Koekelberg in Brussels. Created in collaboration with vocalists Camille Camille, STACE and Nuna, the concert brought together three distinct artistic voices, each reimagined for a string quintet, flute and piano. Moving between contemporary pop, neoclassical textures and intimate songwriting, the evening unfolded as a dialogue between voice and ensemble.
The evening also featured the live performance of Loverman’s new album, presented with expanded arrangements that bridged the rawness of songwriting with the depth of an acoustic ensemble.
This opening concert marked the beginning of Listen Festival’s six day citywide celebration, which brought music into some of Brussels’ most iconic and unconventional spaces, including Brussels Central Station and Les Halles de Schaerbeek. As the festival drew visitors from across the world, the concert served as both an introduction and an invitation, a moment where the Brussels music community met the international stage..
